Percy Jackson and the Olympians (pjo)

Percy Jackson and the Olympians or, pjo for short is a book series which was eventually turned into a movie and Tv show series! Pjo is my favorite book series and tv show. I first read the series in 3rd grade and finished it in 4-5 grade, I am now in 6th grade and am re-reading the series. Recently, the new television show, which can be found in Disney+ came out, they are now filming season 2! The author of this wonderful series is Rick Riordan, my favorite author. The show’s cast has some of my favorite child actors like, Walker Scobell as the main character, Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Anabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, and finally Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse. The reason I love this series is that it is an exciting fantasy novel about a young boy with dyslexia and ADHD, which I have and I can relate to. I love when you can relate to a main character in a book because it reassures you that you are not alone. Percy Jackson is also based off of a lot of Greek mythology, which is something I have always been interested in and loved.

My LA comic!💥

Recently in LA class our teacher assigned us a project. This project was to make a comic based on a story we enjoyed from a book about different stories with important morals titled, “Wisdom Tales.” This book had many stories to choose from and each story was very motivational, so it was very hard to pick which one I was going to make a comic about. I decided to go with a tale called “The Blue Jackal.” The blue jackal is about a jackal that accidentally turns himself blue, by tripping over a paint bucket. He decides to go into the jungle, and when he enters the jungle animals are amazed by his color and make him their king. The jackal treats his own kind very poorly and the other jackals decide to make a plan to show the other animals who their “king” really is. The story is about being your true self and always being yourself. I thought this was a good comic to to choose because its moral is something I think you should always live by.

Horseback riding show

I started horseback riding when I was in kindergarten. I went to my first horse show in 3rd grade! I have been to 7 horse shows so far, 5 of them including IEA shows. My most recent horse show was all the way in Florida. I went to Florida with my sister and my mom on Wednesday. I practiced riding my pony, Peaches, on Thursday and Friday. I showed on Saturday. I competed in cross rallies and got two 1st place ribbons, three 2nd place ribbons and one 2nd place metal. Usually you get ribbons, unless you compete in a metal class, then you get a medal which is how I got mine.

Here are some photos, and one quick video!

Horseback Riding

I started riding when I was six years old. I continued my horseback journey, until covid. After Corona virus I started horseback riding again, eventually getting my own horse! My horse’s name is Firefly, although I can’t ride him anymore he still helped me a lot with learning different skills. My family bought a farm a few years after buying my first horse. Right now I am riding at a barn called Ascend, where I ride a pony named Peaches. Soon, I will go back to riding at my own barn. As well as weekly lessons I do a IEA. IEA is a riding facility that trains riders two times a month and goes to horse shows every week. IEA is great if you want to continue riding in the future.  IEA is full of fun and nice people from ages 12-18.

Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a fun holiday with great food and is celebrated by many. What I love most about thanksgiving is that my family always celebrates it differently each year. This year my family got together at my mom’s house and invited my aunt and grandma, my big sister also came to visit all the way from Chicago. Even though it was a small get together I will always remember it. The best part of having a different thanksgiving each year is the different memories I have. Last year we celebrated at a farm, the year before that we went to the mountains which made great memories for me and my family.

Things I’m thankful for:

1. My family (including my pets)

2. My wonderful friends

3. Having a roof over my head

4. Being able to get a good education

5. Being able to go in my kitchen and have food

6. Being able to participate in activity’s

7.  Access to doctors and health care

8. Having siblings to talk to

9. having parents that care for me

10. Having access to clean and healthy water

The History of Thanksgiving: in 1621 a meal was shared with  the Wampanoag people and the pilgrims, this meal represented peace between the two groups of people. Since then we have celebrated what we now call Thanksgiving.

Makers Market!

Every year my school hosts a special food truck event! At this event students can chose to sell items that they made. This year me and my friends decided to participate. We made homemade cookie dough and clay bead bracelets. The school event was really fun and my friends and I really enjoyed it.

Here are some photos of makers market:

My summer of 2023

Summer is full of fun adventures and great memories! My favorite memories of my summer of 2023 was going to Wyoming. Although I go to Wyoming every Summer, Winter break and Spring break it never disappoints! Wyoming is the least populated state in the Country, but has wonderful views and incredibly fun activity’s. Some activity’s I love doing is skiing, hiking, camping, whitewater rafting, and definitely Horseback riding! I loved biking into town with my sisters and going to the summer fair.

Here are some photos of my recent summer in WY!

Halloween! 🎃👻

Some people love Christmas, some people love Easter, but I love Halloween! Halloween is my favorite holiday for multiple reasons! Here are MY reasons on why Halloween is the best holiday.

  1. You get to dress up!
  2. Halloween movies are AMAZING (in my opinion)
  3. you get to eat a bunch of candy for FREE! I mean who doesn’t love candy?
  4. you get to hangout with your friends, and go trick or treating
  5. you can trick people without getting in trouble 😈

Although I love Halloween a lot of people don’t. It could be because of religious reasons or you just don’t like the scary costumes. For instance my grandma HATES Halloween because it goes against her religion. You can also be religious but also love Halloween, Halloween doesn’t get to define who you are.

My favorite part of Halloween is the costumes. I love deciding what costumes I want to be and being creative with what I choose. This year I decided to be Perry the Platypus from the iconic show Phineas and Pherb.

Here is a photo of my costume!

The History Of Halloween:

Halloween first became a holiday in the 19th century. The tradition started as an ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. It was believed that on October 31st, ghosts of the dead would return to earth. In order to scare off the ghosts, people would dress up in scary costumes, and light up bonfires, creating the holiday we now call Halloween!

Tap Dancing!

Something I absolutely love doing is Tap Dancing. I have been dancing for about five years now. I started tap because my big sister influenced me to try it! At first I was not on board with the situation but now I am incredibly thankful I did. I dance at the Ballet School of Chapel Hill, I have been dancing there since I started tap. I am currently in a tap company called NCYTE. I dedicate more of my time into NCYTE rather than my weekly tap lessons because I feel being in a company is my top priority. I still dedicate some of my time into lessons as well. I have struggled with multiple tasks in tap, especially during Covid. I took a break once the pandemic hit, which caused me to loose three years of dance.  It was a major struggle to get back into dance after all the years I had missed but I persevered and tried anyway.

Camp Kirkwood

At the beginning of the school year the 6th grade went on a trip to camp Kirkwood. Camp Kirkwood is located in Watha, North Carolina. When we got there each of the councilors were incredibly nice and welcoming. Even though we arrived during a tropical storm, the councilors managed to make everything work. We participated in tons of fun activity’s such as, the V-swing, the pool, soccer, dodgeball, and we even got to watch a movie!  We also had delicious meals and snow cones!
