Backpack Project!

During summer break our LA teacher assigned a book called “finding someplace.” Finding someplace is a about a 13 year old girl named Reesie Boone. Reesie lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, were hurricanes are very common. Reesie usually isn’t afraid of any silly little hurricane but Katrina isn’t a silly little hurricane. On the day of the storm her mom is at work and so is her father, her uncle is unable to pick her up, the only person she has left to stay with his her elderly neighbor. Eventually Reesies best friends brother, André and his wife come to join them, trying to wait out the horrible hurricane.

In the start of the school year, our LA teacher assigned us an essay. The essay was about who we thought in the book was the hero of the story.

this is the essay I wrote, the person I chose was André.

Later our teacher had us to a project about the book. This project was called the backpack project. What this project had us do, was to draw in a backpack what important valuables or essentials we would bring if we were stuck in hurricane Katrina.
